Day 43 of 100: Great Barrier Reef

We are at Cairns so we HAVE TO go to the Great Barrier Reef. We joined a boat trip first to Green Island and then to the outer reef. Green island was pretty closed by with less than 1 hour boat ride. We arrived, we booked a underwater walking trip. We changed into wet suits and got ready for the “walk”. We took a speed boat to a float where we were put on the weight belt and the 100 kg helmet with oxygen supply tube. The guide kept feeding the fishes that why it was quite spectacular when i saw it behind the heavy helmet.

The we took the same boat 2 hours later to the outer reef. When we arrived, the boat was anchored to a much bigger float in the middle of the sea. Buffet lunch was included and snorkelling gear was also supplied. You can pay for optional underwater motorbike which is the same concept of underwater walk we did at Green Island but instead of walking, you bike! We chose to snorkel and we saw this!!

Snorkelling at the Great Barrier Reef was fun but it is a bit far out and it really took a long boat ride to get there. I was just comparing my experience in Maldives where i can snorkel just steps away from my villa. On the way back, the sea was a bit rough so we have to sit on the deck trying not to think about being sea sick. One and a half hour on the rough sea, we saw the light...nope,..we saw the rainbow...
